CNC Press Brake Technician
CNC Press Brake Technician needed: independently set up, program, and optimize Amada/Trumpf machines; read complex drawings, ensure tight tolerances, mentor peers, and drive efficiency.
We usually respond within three days
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Setup & Operation: Independently set up and operate various CNC press brake machines (e.g., Amada, Trumpf, Cincinnati, Bystronic) to form precision metal parts.
Programming & Optimization: Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs directly at the machine control interface or via offline programming software.
Tooling Selection: Select proper punches, dies, and back-gauge settings based on material type, thickness, and desired bend radius.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
Quality Control: Perform rigorous first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, protractors, angle finders, height gauges) to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex machine errors, forming defects, or tooling issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop more efficient bending sequences, design custom tooling setups, and improve overall workflow.
Maintenance: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on press brake machines and tooling, ensuring equipment remains in peak operating condition.
Mentorship: Train, guide, and support junior press brake operators on machine safety, setup procedures, and quality standards.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all OSHA guidelines, company safety policies, and proper material handling procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience setting up, operating, and programming CNC press brakes in a precision sheet metal or heavy fabrication environment.
Technical Knowledge: Advanced understanding of sheet metal flat patterns, K-factors, bend deductions, and bend allowances across various metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).
Measurement Skills: High proficiency in using precision measurement tools and applying GD&T principles.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of troubleshooting complex forming issues.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with engineers and training peers.
Mathematical Aptitude: Strong shop math skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Experience with offline CAD/CAM programming software (e.g., Radan, MetaCAM, BySoft, or TruTops).
Prior experience in a leadership, lead-hand, or training role.
Forklift or overhead crane certification.
A technical degree, journeyman card, or equivalent manufacturing certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to stand for extended periods (8–10 hour shifts).
Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and maneuver metal materials weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination for handling small to large metal components safely.
